Recruiting in Tunisia: mission hailed a success!
After a conclusive pilot project in 2018, the Talent Montréal team steps up its efforts to recruit in Maghreb. As the team recognized the potential of this French-speaking talent pool, it made the trip to Tunisia again to meet with skilled and experienced workers.
Montréal International, through its Talent Montréal initiative, arrived in Tunis with nine Montréal companies looking to fill key positions in the manufacturing, aerospace and IT sectors. Tunisian workers were invited to meet with future employers on April 4 and 5. A large number of them applied for jobs as more than 5,000 applications were filed.
Two days of successful recruitment
The nine participating companies had more than 230 positions to fill. After the candidates were pre-screened, 350 interviews had been planned to allow the Montréal employers to meet with the local workers, who combine both experience and training, as well as a strong interest for Montréal and Québec.
The mission by the numbers
- Over 5,000 applications
- 238 positions available
- 94 job offers
- 550 to 600 Tunisian candidates met during the interviews and one networking session
Immigration advice
In addition to recruiters, the local workers were able to get immigration advice, particularly on the preparation required and the permanent resident status, from Caroline Boucher, Director, International Mobility at Montréal International and Laurence Reynaud, Head of International Partnership Development, Newcomers at Desjardins.
The 2018 momentum continues
Montréal International will keep the 2018 momentum going by increasing the number of missions abroad. With more than 14 international recruitment missions completed in 2018, Montréal International has helped recruit 640 skilled and experienced workers. The results are more than double of those from the previous year. Get all the figures in the Activity Report.
