Montréal is the second-best city in the world for remote workers
WorkMotion, a global recruitment website, has just released its international ranking of the most accessible and attractive cities for remote work. Montréal took first place in the Americas and the No. 2 spot in the world.

As the pandemic has changed the way we think about work, an increasing number of employees are interested in relocating to destinations that best suit their lifestyles while working remotely. As for companies, they can now hire the world’s top talent, regardless of where they live.
The study by WorkMotion resulted in a global ranking of the 80 best cities from among a list of popular, ideal destinations for teleworking. The study compared 17 factors in four main categories, such as employment compliance, cost of living, human rights and quality of life.
Montréal scored a total of 98.20 out of 100 and especially stood out in the following sub-categories:
- A political, economic and legal environment favourable for compliance with remote work
- High scores for diversity, equity and inclusion
- An enviable level of safety
- Universal access to healthcare
- A wide cultural offering
- A high happiness index for residents
