Montréal International pays tribute to Régis Vigneau, one of its key founders
It is with profound sadness that the Montréal International team has learned of Régis Vigneau’s passing. He played a key role in creating the agency 25 years ago. Montréal International wishes to highlight the outstanding contribution made by this visionary, highly cultivated man, who held the position of Executive Vice-President and Corporate Secretary for over a decade, from 1996 to 2006.
“I don’t think you can separate the man, Régis Vigneau, from Montréal International. I knew he had a great passion for Montréal and firmly believed that international relations were key to the city’s economic development,” stated Stéphane Paquet, President and CEO of Montréal International. “He also believed it was important to speak in a single, common voice on the international stage. This vision allowed him to rally a whole community around a common mission: Make Montréal indispensable to international organizations and foreign investors. That challenge was brilliantly met.”
“Régis Vigneau unquestionably made a great contribution to Montréal International’s success and enviable reputation,” said Jean Laurin, President of the Board of Montréal International. “As I had the opportunity to work alongside him over the years, I got a front-row seat to see the real impact he had on Greater Montréal’s economic development and international profile. We owe it mostly to him that we are now celebrating 25 years of this solid agency, engaged and rooted in the business networks. Thank you, Régis.”
Mr. Vigneau worked in municipal, government and international relations for more than 30 years. He will always be closely associated with the city’s economic development and international exposure. Those who knew him also know that he had always been committed to ensuring the sustainability and strategic growth of Montréal International with much fervour and conviction.
Montréal International wishes to offer its deepest condolences to his family, his loved ones and all those who were close to him throughout his life and remarkable career.
