Montréal, January 24, 2017 – Vartan Product Support Inc., a subsidiary of cabin interior specialist Vartan Aviation Group of Hamburg, Germany, expects its Greater Montréal facility to create as many as 35 new jobs within three years as it ramps up work on new aircraft programs and other projects.
“Montréal has an outstanding aviation sector and that’s why we have decided to expand our newest subsidiary in this high-potential location,” said Chris Vartan, Chief Executive Officer of the Vartan Aviation Group. “We have been very pleased with the quality and capabilities of our Greater Montréal office since its opening near Mirabel in June 2016. We are confident that, moving forward, it can meet our growing needs not only in Canada but in the United States as well.”
Vartan Product Support has 10 employees in Québec who are working mainly onsite at local aircraft manufacturers, and expects to add 35 new positions by 2020. In March 2017, Daniel Lapierre, a Montréal-born aviation veteran who previously worked for major airlines, will oversee the company’s Canada operations as Director.
While Vartan is currently working on interior cabin finishing and other tasks on new aircraft such as the Bombardier C Series, Challenger and Q Series in Montréal and Toronto, the company is planning to leverage its Montréal presence to gain new business with other aircraft manufacturers, airlines, MROs and product manufacturers. “We are able to perform cabin interior overhaul, modifications and refurbishment as well as provide services on composite aerostructure and aircraft systems,” noted Mr. Vartan. “We are also specialists in surface treatment such as décor application. We are confident that we can expand our horizons from our base in Greater Montréal.”
“As a world capital of aerospace, Montréal offers Vartan an excellent springboard for increasing its business with major aircraft manufacturers in the North American market,” added Hubert Bolduc, President and CEO of Montréal International. “We are home to a growing network of world-class prime contractors, equipment manufacturers and close to 190 small and medium-size enterprises. We are well-positioned to provide Vartan with everything it needs to be successful.”
“The Greater Montréal aerospace cluster no longer owes its power of attraction solely to the presence of major manufacturers. Over time, a strong ecosystem has taken shape, rooted in college- and university-level education programs, the presence of world-calibre suppliers, and the development of related industries like flight simulation. The arrival of Vartan Aviation is evidence of that remarkable vitality and the industry’s growing diversification. We are pleased to have guided the company through the set-up process, and we will continue to work hand-in-hand with Vartan Aviation to ensure its Québec operations are a success,” said Pierre Gabriel Côté, President and CEO of Investissement Québec.
The Montréal subsidiary of Vartan Product Support is one of six located around the world which together employ over 420 specialists. The others are located in Seattle, WA, Charleston, SC and Melbourne, FL in the United States, Toulouse in France, Abu Dhabi in the Middle East, and Tianjin in China. Vartan Aviation Group’s headquarters in Hamburg, Germany also has about 120 employees.
